CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION & ADMINISTRATION

If you qualify for a free Construction Documentation and Administration exam section, you're in the right place!

Please follow the numbered steps below to register for your free section as well as any other sections you need to take this administration.

1. Determine if I qualify.

To qualify, a candidate must confirm yes to both of the following qualifications:

  • I have successfully passed Section 1 of the L.A.R.E. prior to October 2022.
  • I have attempted and failed Section 4 of the L.A.R.E. between December 2022 and October 2023.

 

2. Register for the exam.

To register, click on the green button below. All candidates must have an active Council Record to register for the L.A.R.E. If your Record is not active, please contact us to reactivate your Record.

Please note:

If during the registration process, you receive an error message indicating that you have not been preapproved. This indicates that according to CLARB’s records you do not qualify for the free Construction Documentation and Adminstration exam section. Please contact our office so that we can double check your qualifications.

Schedule your test appointment. If you do not receive an email with instructions on how to do this, contact CLARB. After scheduling your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not, your appointment may not be scheduled.

Due to the transition to the new blueprint, results for all December 2023 sections will be made available 8-10 weeks following the last day of the testing administration.

Exam Registration Tips

  • Register for the exam and schedule your test appointment as early as possible to ensure the best chance of selecting the test center and test date that are more convenient for you.
  • Contact the licensure board where you plan to seek initial licensure to confirm what the requirements are for becoming licensed. Licensure requirements may be different than exam requirements.

Adding an Exam Section after You Have Registered for the Upcoming Exam Administration
  1. Log into the website and click "My Profile" in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Scroll to "My Event Registrations."
  3. On the "Edit Sections" page, check the sections you wish to add to your registration.
  4. Submit payment for the section(s) you just added.

Cancelling an Exam Section

Should you need to cancel one or more exam sections, you must cancel by the cancellation deadline in order to receive a refund. 

When an exam registration is cancelled by the cancellation deadline, the refund amount will be issued to the original form of payment less a $100 cancellation fee. Candidates who do not cancel with both PSI and CLARB may be ineligible for refund.

Please note: the cost to start a Council Record is non-refundable.

Follow these steps to cancel an exam section:

  1. Cancel your appointment(s) with PSI.
  2. Log into the CLARB website and click "My Profile" in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Scroll to "View Exam Registration."
  4. Click the "Cancel Exam" link next to the section you wish to cancel. Follow the system prompts to complete your cancellation.
  5. You will receive an email confirmation of your cancellation.

"Good Cause" Policy

CLARB's "Good Cause" policy may apply if you are unable to attend the exam administration due to severe physical or emotional hardship. Contact CLARB to find out what documentation you need to submit to have your case reviewed in accordance with this policy. Candidates who are approved under this policy will receive a refund to the original form of payment less a $100 cancellation fee. All requests for Good Cause should be submitted as soon as possible, however, requests will not be accepted if received more than 30 days after the exam administration.
Requesting ADA Accommodations

Applying for accommodations:
CLARB follows the standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for accommodations for disabled candidates. Should you require accommodations for a disability, please contact Rebecca Moden at rmoden@clarb.org as soon as possible to apply and obtain approval for accommodations on the L.A.R.E

When scheduling a test appointment with accommodations:
Once your accommodations have been approved, you may register for the L.A.R.E. via the CLARB website and schedule your appointment. All appointments with accommodations must be scheduled using the PSI Zendesk system after registering for the L.A.R.E. Some accommodations may require testing in an in-person test center.
